Redux of a character I drew earlier this year who I loved but wasn’t completely happy with.
I feel like I haven’t uploaded anything in ages, even though it’s only been five days or so. Sorry about that. Life has been keeping me super busy, and so I’ve been really tired and grumpy and haven’t been drawing anything I actually like. This is a fairly accurate representation of how I’ve been feeling the past couple of days. I’m going to be even more busy over the rest of the week, but at least I’m not so tired today.
A couple of characters I doodled at work yesterday and vectored this morning. It ended up being a bit of a design exercise, contrasting smooth and angular shapes and using minimal colours.
The twins.
This is a bit reminiscent of Bryan Lee O’Malley, which would make sense considering I’ve been reading Scott Pilgrim recently. Much happier with the character on the left than the character on the right (that curly hair came out so much better than I was expecting). But I’m definitely getting more comfortable with 3/4 view of people. I feel like I’ve been saying it forever, but it’s true.
Super dooper happy with this and stuff.
It’s an entry for a competition on DA, re-drawing an old work and showing the two side-by-side. The old one is, well, terrible, so it’s encouraging to see how much better this one is.
watercolour/fineliner
Watercolour is one of those things I really enjoy doing, but don’t do anywhere near enough. Work the past couple of days has been killing me, so this afternoon I took a short away-from-the-computer break and watercoloured a few things. I’m really happy with how this came out, I love the subtle variations in colour you get in this sort of work.
